New Year's Charity Concert at the Bolzano Theatre

On New Year's Day 1832, a society of amateur musicians held a charity concert at the Bolzano theatre for the benefit of the local poor. Conducted by Mr Brenner, the performance featured soloists Gasser on the flute and Schwarz on the violin. Together with the proceeds from the New Year greeting-card exemptions, over 523 guilders were raised for the municipal charity institute.

Curiosities from Bozen: An exceptionally heavy ox and a malformed calf

In May 1823, a report from Bozen describes an exceptionally large and heavy ox fattened by master butcher Stephan Pitschieler, originating from the Ulten Valley and reaching over 21 quintals in weight. A portion of its meat was donated to the local poor and two mendicant monasteries. Additionally, the report mentions a two-headed malformed calf born in December 1822, which was stuffed and put on display.

Celebrations for the Emperor's Birthday in the District of Botzen

In the district of Botzen, the Emperor's birthday was celebrated on 12 February 1820 with solemn high masses across all deaneries and parishes. Numerous inhabitants and local authorities attended the church services to express their loyalty to the monarch. In some communities, the occasion was further marked by charitable donations.
