Curiosities from Bozen: An exceptionally heavy ox and a malformed calf
In May 1823, a report from Bozen describes an exceptionally large and heavy ox fattened by master butcher Stephan Pitschieler, originating from the Ulten Valley and reaching over 21 quintals in weight. A portion of its meat was donated to the local poor and two mendicant monasteries. Additionally, the report mentions a two-headed malformed calf born in December 1822, which was stuffed and put on display.
