Proceeds from excuse cards in Bozen for the workhouse

Bozen, 14 Jan. The excellence of the institution of exempting oneself from personal visits and sending cards at the turn of the year through the purchase of excuse cards has proven its worth once again in the town of Bozen at the beginning of this year, and according to general demand, the validity of these excuse cards was extended to name-day visits or visiting cards, where unpleasant oversights often occur through ignorance or involuntary forgetfulness. The proceeds dedicated to the highly beneficent and widely anticipated adaptation of a workhouse, as in the two preceding years, amounted to the significant sum of 349 fl. 24 kr. N. W. for 501 cards issued, and the attached list of names shows that besides the noble-minded inhabitants of the town, many like-minded residents of the district also strived to further this noble purpose.
