Tyrol.

Bolzano, 30 Aug. Several residents of Bolzano spending their summer retreat on the Ritten charitably remembered the poor and unfortunate on the occasion of a social gathering. Various games organised for this purpose yielded a net profit of 150 fl. in abusive currency, which was handed over by the aforementioned philanthropists to the Imperial-Royal District Office with the request that 90 fl. be given to the poor on the Ritten, and 60 fl. to the stricken owner of the Huberhof in Tschösens near Layen, who lost all her possessions to a lightning strike on the 22nd of this month. Thus, cheerfulness and merriment were combined with a noble charitable purpose. In bringing this noble act to general notice, the local Imperial-Royal District Office hereby expresses its warmest thanks to the noble philanthropists on behalf of the beneficiaries.

1832 at a glance

The year 1832 was shaped by regional reports on demonstrations of loyalty and charitable initiatives, particularly on the occasion of the Emperor's birthday and the 40th anniversary of Emperor Francis I's reign in Bozen. At the same time, detailed contemporary treatises documented the construction, engineering, and economic significance of the newly built Stelvio Pass road and surrounding regions. Retrospectively, local events such as fire disasters and statistics from the previous year were also covered.
