Service of Thanksgiving by Andreas Hofer's Widow in Passeier
Following the failed assassination attempt on the King of Hungary in Baden, Anna von Hofer, widow of Andreas Hofer, held a solemn service of thanksgiving in her house chapel in the Passeier Valley. Family members and household staff attended the service to give thanks for the monarch's deliverance.

Passeyer, 28 Aug. When the news of the heinous deed, by which on the 9th of this month in Baden the precious life of His Majesty the younger King of Hungary was threatened by a wicked assassin—though by divine providence all misfortune was averted—spread among the inhabitants in the Passeyer Valley, Anna v. Hofer, widow of the Sandwirth Andreas v. Hofer and ever faithfully devoted to the Austrian Imperial House, had a solemn service of thanksgiving held today in her house chapel, which was attended by all family members and household staff, fervently thanking God for the merciful deliverance from this danger.
