In December 1825, unusually prolonged rainfall caused severe flooding in the Puster Valley and southern Tyrol. In addition to destruction wrought by the Toblach stream, the Adige, and the Fersina near Trento, numerous roads and bridges were damaged and postal traffic was disrupted.
In August 1823, Crown Prince Archduke Ferdinand visited the town of Merano and the surrounding villages of the Burggrafenamt and Vinschgau. The population welcomed the royal guest with illuminations, triumphal arches, and parades of Schützen and schoolchildren. During his stay, the Crown Prince visited the Passeier Valley, Schloss Tirol, the Partschins waterfall, and the construction site of the new Stelvio Pass road.
Following heavy downpours in late May 1821, all of Tyrol from Innsbruck to Valsugana suffered severe flooding. The Sill, Eisack, Etsch, Passer, and Fersina rivers overflowed their banks, causing extensive destruction to roads, bridges, dikes, and fields. Damage to infrastructure and agriculture matched or surpassed that of the disastrous year 1817 in several areas.
