Relief efforts in Bozen following the fire disaster in Imst
Following the devastating fire in the market town of Imst, an appeal for donations and relief efforts was launched in Bozen. Clergy, authorities, associations, and schools quickly joined forces to collect money, food, and clothing. Within two days, significant funds and material donations were raised for the fire victims.

Bozen, 14 May. The proclamation of the Provincial Governor Count von Chotek, which arrived here on the 11th of this month, regarding the most tragic fate of the inhabitants of the market town of Imst affected by the most terrible fire, and the received call for prompt aid and support, has deeply moved all hearts in this city as well, giving rise to the most splendid acts of generosity and human kindness.
The venerable clergy proved their holy calling through the most forceful and touching appeals for active charity from the pulpits, and by undertaking charitable house-to-house collections in conjunction with the district guardians of the poor.
The city magistrate and the mercantile magistrate issued appeals for charitable contributions, and the board of the local civic shooters' association immediately organized an extraordinary meeting for the same purpose.
Even the leadership of the educational institutions encouraged the youth to make whatever contributions they could for those affected by the disaster.
This noble collaboration had the remarkable result that within the very first two days:
from the Magistrate 2000 fl. - kr.
from the merchant body 1192 fl. 58½ kr.
from the I. R. Main Rifle Range 230 fl. - kr.
from the I. R. Gymnasium 104 fl. 28 kr.
Total 3527 fl. 26½ kr.
in cash of imperial currency could be forwarded to their destination. In addition, substantial supplies of foodstuffs and clothing collected through charity lie ready, and the collections and contributions are still fully underway.
It is observed not without emotion that the greatest effort was shown universally to support the unfortunate brethren, and even the poorest shared their supplies as well as their cash with those even less fortunate!! —
