Bozen, 16 August. In today's public session of the District Court, three petty offence cases were heard. One for theft ended with the conviction of the defendant Anton Stocker to 6 weeks of arrest. In the second case, concerning a brawl, the accused Josef Frces was sentenced to ten days of arrest, and Josef Sparber and Josef Schindler to eight days each. This latter sentence was also passed on Anton Brunner, who was accused of defamation in the third case. – On the 20th, 21st, 22nd, and 23rd of this month, public hearings in criminal cases will take place before the local Imperial-Royal Provincial Court.
Unfortunately, we hear once again of a deplorable natural disaster in the area of Gratsch and Allgund. Heavily swollen mountain torrents destroyed passage on both the new and old post roads to such an extent that it will scarcely be restored within 8 days. The new bridge near Forst was also swept away by the force of the current. Fortunately, the remaining damage is said to be insignificant.
