Meran, 31 Oct. *) The k. k. Gymnasium in Meran was fortunate in recent days to receive, through the intercession of its teaching staff, a mineral collection of 387 specimens from the duplicate holdings of the Ferdinandeum in Innsbruck, distinguished by the quality and utility of the pieces for instruction. The undersigned prefect hastens to publicly express his gratitude to the Ferdinandeum for this generous gift, all the more so as, on the one hand, these teaching aids could hardly have been more welcome to any other gymnasium than to the one in Meran, and, on the other, this excellent gift demonstrates that the museum's patriotic institute misses no opportunity to lend a hand in spreading education throughout the land and generously opening its scientific and artistic treasures.
Albert Jäger, provisional prefect.
