P. Meran, 12 Nov. For several days now, we have been receiving frequent inquiries from multiple quarters, particularly from North Tyrol, regarding the state of cholera in our region, which suggests that widespread false rumors have been circulated. In order to counter these and prevent alarming anxieties, I hasten to inform you that thus far only two cases have occurred in our environs, specifically in our small town, in which a cholera-like condition was diagnosed. One of the afflicted, a mason, had recently suffered from nervous fever, recently spoiled his stomach, and died at 9 at night from convulsions; the other, a farmhand, has been bedridden in the hospital since the 10th with abdominal pain and vomiting. Apart from these two, no further case has occurred, and the general state of health amidst the excellent weather we continue to enjoy is so satisfactory that it leaves nothing to be desired.*)

*) Here in Bozen as well, the dread guest has departed once more.
