Tyrol.

Innsbruck, 4 Aug. Yesterday evening, coming from Italy, Their Royal Highnesses the Crown Prince and Crown Princess of Prussia arrived here under the names of Count and Countess of Zollern, lodged at the inn "zur goldenen Sonne", and continued their journey this morning through the Lower Inn Valley towards Tegernsee.

According to reports from the Adige region, the grapes everywhere are looking very fine and promise a bountiful vintage. In the vicinity of Bozen, however, there is great fear of caterpillars, which caused such terrible destruction last year. They are reportedly already appearing in the Eppan area. Things are better in this regard around Meran, where an abundant crop of grapes is ripening unscathed toward autumn and seems likely to surpass even the bounty of the previous year. Moreover, the most delicious peaches have already been enjoyed for the past twelve days. The weather is fair and has been very warm for several days, though the nights remain tolerable.

1835 at a glance

The year 1835 was marked, in the regional and Habsburg context, by significant infrastructural developments and profound state mourning. While the death of Emperor Franz I in the spring prompted solemn memorial services and obituaries, strategic transport projects such as discussions on alpine railway construction and the financial balance of the Stelvio Pass military road remained at the forefront.
