Algund, 19 April. Today is the birthday of His Majesty Emperor Ferdinand I. Salvation and blessing upon Him, the Benevolent! And thanks be to Heaven, which gifted the world a prince of such gentleness, such benevolence, and such angelic goodness. The impulse of His noble heart outpaces even imperial possibilities, and wherever He tarries and wherever He departs, His grace fills hearts with gratitude.
When in the month of July of last year a terrible storm wrought great devastation in the municipalities of Algund and Gratsch near Meran and impoverished many proprietors, in the following month of August Their Majesties Emperor Ferdinand and the pious Empress Anna visited their illustrious uncle Archduke Rainer in Meran, and alleviated the distress of the afflicted through a donation of 400 fl. CM.
Ardent gratitude burns for this in the hearts of those affected in both heavily afflicted municipalities, and today is the day on which they believe they ought to express it aloud, alongside a silent prayer sent above, for this great imperial gift.
May Heaven long preserve the pious imperial couple! Salvation and blessing to Emperor Ferdinand!
