Meran, 18 August. As for Bozen and Brixen, the establishment of an upper secondary school has now also been granted for Meran, and in consequence the 7th grade will already be opened in the coming school year. That this became possible is due, alongside the merits of others, to the selfless dedication of the monastery of Marienberg to science and the fatherland, which, notwithstanding its financial difficulties, consented to provide the necessary professors at its own expense. The fatherland is to be congratulated that several higher educational institutions are being established, thereby providing the opportunity to spread science and education in ever wider circles.
