According to reports, the glacial lake dammed by the Vernagtferner in the Ötztal drained completely through an opening at its bed in late May 1846, causing no damage to the valley.

According to reports just received, the Vernagtferner lake in the Oezthal completely drained between May 22 and 24 through an opening in its bottom, without causing any damage.
