Storm Damage in the Judicial Districts of Sarntal and Karneid
A violent hailstorm during the night of 26–27 May 1841 caused severe devastation across the judicial districts of Sarntal and Karneid. In addition to damaged mills and property, crops were destroyed and several vineyards and fields were buried under rubble.

Disasters caused by natural events.
In the night from 26 to 27 May of this year, a violent thunderstorm accompanied by hail caused significant damage to land holdings and mills in the judicial district of Sarnthal, namely on the mountains of Vormeswald, Putzen, and in part in the district of Niederwangen, as well as in the Marterthal. In the judicial district of Karneid, this natural disaster struck the communities of Montigl, Vilpian, Klaus, and Siebeneich in such a way that it almost completely destroyed the standing crops in the first two communities and partially in the latter two; furthermore, in the communities of Montigl, Klaus, and especially Siebeneich, several vineyards and grain fields were inundated with rubble and stones.
