On the night of 5 to 6 July 1841, a severe mountain storm triggered debris flows in the Naif gorge. The Rametzbach swelled to record levels, destroying water conduits for Meran and Obermais and inundating surrounding lands and the highway.

A violent hailstorm during the night of 26–27 May 1841 caused severe devastation across the judicial districts of Sarntal and Karneid. In addition to damaged mills and property, crops were destroyed and several vineyards and fields were buried under rubble.
The poor fund directorate announces the proceeds from the issue of New Year exemption cards. Across Bozen, Meran, and Klausen, over 383 florins were collected for charitable purposes.
