……

Schlaneid or Terlan in the Botzen district is currently unused.

At Sgmus near Tschengels in the Schlanders district court, a sodium-iron spring emerges, which has been recommended for several centuries against rheumatalgia, gout, chlorosis, and chronic eruptions; the bath is in good condition and fairly well-visited, but the surrounding marshes make the stay unpleasant.

…..

At Spandin in the Vintschgau, an alleged mineral spring was used by the populace in the 17th century; nowadays it appears to be neglected.

The Bad Kochenmoos near Staben in the Botzen district has a muriatic spring, used against rheumatalgia, gout, and chronic skin diseases.

…..

The Taufererbad near Löwenberg in the municipality of Tscherms in the Botzen district, a saline chalybeate water, is in good condition and is quite frequently used against gout, eruptions, paralysis, rheumatism, and chronic ulcers.

At Terlan in the Botzen district, a sulfur spring is said to be located.

The Thurnerbacherbad in the municipality of Eppan is an earthy-saline chalybeate and sulfur water; it is recommended for disorders of digestion, secretions and excretions, and habitual ulcers, specifically by Dr. Dallatorre, a physician who has successfully practiced his art for over 50 years.

Notice.

The Royal French Medical Academy has awarded the prize established by the Parisian bookseller Bossange for the best treatise on maize (Türken) as food for humans, and especially for children and nursing women, to the Parisian physician Dr. Duchesne. It consists of a botanical work by Redouté valued at 1400 francs.

1830 at a glance

In 1830, regional history and the development of spa and health tourism in the Adige district and Tyrol were central to the public discourse. Alongside detailed analyses of the mineral springs and health resorts around Merano, publications also documented biographical accounts of figures such as painter Johann Evangelist Holzer and innovations in agriculture.
