August 1823

Overview

In August 1823, Crown Prince Archduke Ferdinand visited Merano, the Burggrafenamt, and the Vinschgau valley, following a previous visit to Bozen. The local population greeted the distinguished guest with festive illuminations, triumphal arches, and processions of Schützen and schoolchildren. During his journey, the crown prince inspected numerous local sights, historical sites, and infrastructure projects such as the Stelvio Pass road.

Visit of Crown Prince Archduke Ferdinand to Merano and the Surrounding Area

In August 1823, Crown Prince Archduke Ferdinand visited the town of Merano and the surrounding villages of the Burggrafenamt and Vinschgau. The population welcomed the royal guest with illuminations, triumphal arches, and parades of Schützen and schoolchildren. During his stay, the Crown Prince visited the Passeier Valley, Schloss Tirol, the Partschins waterfall, and the construction site of the new Stelvio Pass road.

Visit to Bozen by Crown Prince Archduke Ferdinand

In late July 1823, Crown Prince Archduke Ferdinand visited the city of Bozen during his tour of Tyrol and Vorarlberg. In addition to receptions, audiences, and an excursion to Haselburg Castle, he visited the church in Gries, the Gugler dye works, as well as local schools and administrative offices.
