From Meran, 23 April, the following details regarding Lentner's death are reported to the Allg. Ztg.: Ten years ago, Lentner arrived here seeking a cure for his pulmonary affliction, to which he has now succumbed. Next to Lewald, he was above all the herald of Meran's charms and curative powers, worked untiringly for the town's advancement, and was until recent times, when his infirmity no longer permitted it, the soul of local social life. His loss will be deeply felt. A tribute to the deceased's literary activity is likely to be expected from one of his Munich friends. The literary estate will be entrusted to Dr Steub, the ingenious author of „Three Summers in Tyrol“. His final illness and passing were entirely painless, his composure exemplary; he leaves to his young wife an only daughter, Marianne, who according to his wish is to be raised in Bavaria — his beloved homeland.

1852 at a glance
The year 1852 in Merano was shaped by the political and administrative changes of neo-absolutism, accompanied by civic engagement in social and educational fields.
