Bozen, 18 Aug. Today's birthday celebration of His Majesty Emperor Franz Josef was observed here in a solemn and dignified manner with a high mass in the local parish church, attended by His Royal Highness Archduke Heinrich, all the authorities, the town magistrate, and a large crowd of people. The military, drawn up in parade formation before the parish church, fired the customary salutes of honour, to which the mortars positioned on the Mittelgebirge responded.
- 19 Aug. Dr. A. v. Hofer, hitherto president of our provincial court and recently appointed by His Majesty as president of the Higher Provincial Court in Innsbruck, will depart tomorrow for the post of his new, honourable appointment. The departure of this highly esteemed and meritorious man from his previous sphere of activity, where he earned unconditional and widespread respect, is widely mourned; the high office that he currently assumes will undoubtedly gain a distinguished ornament in him.
