Daily Report.
Bozen, 15 November. We recently reported on the deputation sent from Innsbruck to Vienna regarding the Tyrolean railway question. According to a communication from the Innsbruck city council to that of our town, the outcome was entirely favorable. The Minister of Commerce gave firm assurances that the state administration intends to commence construction without delay, both on the section from Kufstein to Innsbruck and on that from Verona to Bozen, and to link both lines at the Brenner Pass. The fact that a substantial sum has already been allocated for this construction in the preliminary budget for 1850/51 warrants the assumption that the groundbreaking for the railway will take place shortly.
The deputation also suggested the establishment of secondary modern and civic schools (Real- und Bürgerschulen) in our crown land, which was likewise promised with the provision that each district should receive a three-class modern school, while the capital, Innsbruck, is to receive a higher modern school.

1850 at a glance
The year 1850 in Meran was shaped by administrative changes following its elevation to the seat of a district authority, alongside severe storm damage in the summer that triggered extensive relief efforts. At the same time, educational advancements with the establishment of the upper secondary school, significant infrastructure projects, and high-ranking imperial visits such as the federal target-shooting event marked the town's rise as a prominent regional center. These developments reflect Meran's transition into an important administrative and tourist hub. →
