Frankfurt, 22 Jan. In today's session of the National Assembly, Beda Weber spoke very animatedly and to the loud approval of the Left against hereditary imperial dignity and particularly a Prussian empire. A speech by Rümelin in the opposite sense followed. Uhland declared himself in a highly poetic speech in favour of a periodically elected head of state; Dahlmann defended transferring the imperial dignity to Prussia, as did Vincke; between both spoke Frödel, who from a democratic perspective wanted a head elected by the people and the shortest possible term of office. After Vincke's speech, the Right moved to conclude the debate; the vote on this remained doubtful, whereupon it was agreed to adjourn further deliberations until tomorrow. On the list of speakers for tomorrow, Edel appears first as an opponent and Schubert of Königsberg as a defender of the committee proposals. Deputy Kagerbauer handed over 1,459 fl. C. M. as the proceeds of a collection in Upper Austria for the German fleet. (A. Z.)
