Donations from Meran for Sick and Wounded Soldiers
The Provincial Defense Committee in Innsbruck publicly expresses gratitude for monetary and material donations sent from Merano to aid wounded Imperial-Royal soldiers. The contributions were forwarded by Anton Santner and March Commissioner Baron Hausmann.

Through Mr. Anton Santner in Merano, the Senior Commander G. M. v. Roßbach has received 20 francs as a gift from an anonymous woman and widow for sick or wounded Imperial-Royal Austrian soldiers; furthermore, through Mr. March Commissioner Baron Hausmann in Merano, a parcel of linen and one of charpie for the defenders of the homeland have arrived, and will be utilized according to their intended purpose.
The Provincial Defense Committee hereby publicly expresses its gratitude to the noble donors.

1848 at a glance
The year 1848 in Merano and its surroundings was defined by the political upheavals of the March Revolution, the introduction of constitutional rights, and the repercussions of the Italian unrest. While the population formed rifle companies for territorial defense and raised donations for wounded soldiers, the region was directly integrated into the Frankfurt National Assembly through the deputy Beda Weber. At the same time, Merano remained a prominent spa destination, as evidenced by the summer stay of King William I of Württemberg. →
