Public Expression of Gratitude to the k. k. Brood Border Regiment in Meran
Following months of quartering in and around Meran, the k. k. Brood Border Regiment departed for the Oberinntal. Public gratitude is expressed to the commanding officers for the exemplary conduct of the troops and their harmonious relationship with the local rural population.

Meran, 15 Aug. From 18 November of last year to 10 August of this year, the third and fifth companies, and in the last three months the staff of the first field battalion of the commendable k. k. Brood Border Regiment, were quartered in the town of Meran and surrounding areas, and then marched from here into the Oberinnthal. During this time, the entire troop observed such fine conduct and behaved so well toward the rural population that it is felt an obligation to extend public thanks to the commanding officers and the entire officer corps for maintaining such exemplary military discipline.
1833 at a glance
The year 1833 in and around Meran was defined by social welfare initiatives for the poor, successful measures against predators in the Venosta Valley, and relief efforts following a severe fire in Tschengels that underscored the importance of inter-municipal firefighting cooperation. Additionally, the months-long quartering of the imperial-royal Brooder border regiment came to an end in autumn, with local authorities publicly acknowledging the troops' exemplary conduct. →
