Chronicle

March 1850

Overview
In March 1850, Merano prepared for significant developments, including the local rifle guild's plans to rebuild its shooting range and the announced summer stay of Archduke Rainer. Simultaneously, a devastating fire at the Jörgenmüller property in Obermais on March 13 required the concerted efforts of numerous helpers, soldiers, and firefighters to successfully protect the adjacent St. George's Church.
