Overview

In the autumn of 1844, the Etschkreis was characterized by high-ranking Habsburg visits. Archdukes Franz Joseph, Ferdinand Max, Karl Ludwig, and Franz Karl successively traveled through Merano, the Passeier Valley with the historic Sandhof, and Bolzano, receiving festive welcomes everywhere from authorities, local militias, and the population.

Archduke Franz Karl journeys through the Adige Valley via Meran to Bozen, warmly welcomed everywhere by authorities, riflemen, and the local population.
