Mobilisation of the Passeier Schützen and the Volunteer Corps in Val di Non
In April 1848, two Schützen companies were formed in the Passeier Valley for territorial defence against advancing Italian irregulars, marching through Meran towards the Gampen Pass. A concurrent report from Kaltern describes the situation in Cles in the Val di Non, where volunteer corps under Scotti and Ceoli were stationed before Austrian forces and Tyrolean volunteers advanced.
