Fire Disaster in Meran Near the Hospital Church
On 4 March 1852, a major fire broke out in master carpenter Strobl's timber yard near the Hospital Church in Meran. Driven by violent gale winds, the flames consumed timber supplies, a barn housing livestock, and part of a vineyard before being contained at the Passer Bridge; worker carelessness is suspected as the cause.
