Death of the Mayor of Ingolstadt in Meran

Meran, Sept. 23. Yesterday morning, Mr. Ignaz Lallinger, Doctor of Law and Mayor of Ingolstadt, passed away here at the age of 34, leaving behind two orphans. The tracheal phthisis from which he suffered was already so far advanced upon his arrival that even the climate of Meran could not save him. Present at his funeral today were the entire staff of the district court and the magistrate, as well as a great number of domestic and foreign spa guests staying here, whose total currently stands at 304, including the locality of Mais. The character of the deceased and his notoriously steadfast and resolute conduct during the labor disturbances of the past summer warranted this show of public esteem and of the care extended this year by the citizens and authorities of Meran to afflicted visitors—to such a degree that several guests, whose relatives could no longer stay on due to professional duties, have been left in complete peace of mind to the care of their hosts.
