Proceeds from the 1844 New Year Exemption Cards in the District of Bozen
In 1844, New Year exemption cards raised a total of over 409 florins in the towns of Bozen, Meran, and Klausen. The entire sum was dedicated to charitable purposes within the district.

In the following towns of the Botzen district, the following amounts were received for charitable purposes as proceeds from the New Year exemption cards of 1844, namely: in Botzen 284 fl. 35 kr.; in Meran 106 fl.; in Klausen 19 fl. 12 kr.; together 409 fl. 47 kr. R. W.

The year 1844 in Merano and its surroundings was marked by significant infrastructure projects, such as roadworks on the Vinschgau postal road, alongside widespread charitable activities. Of particular note were the visits of high-ranking Habsburg archdukes to the Etsch district and Merano, where they were solemnly received by the population. Simultaneously, Merano continued to establish itself as a prominent spa resort hosting hundreds of visitors. →
