Visit of the Prince-Bishop of Trent to Meran and Bozen

Bozen, 24 May. Yesterday evening, His Princely Grace the Bishop of Trent, Franz Xaver, arriving from Meran where he administered holy confirmation both there and in the surrounding area, arrived here accompanied by the clergy and the municipal magistracy who had travelled out to meet him, taking up quarters at the provostry. Today at 9 o'clock, the Right Reverend Bishop celebrated in pontificalibus, during which the grand mass in C by Mr. Gänsbacher, Imperial-Royal Kapellmeister at St. Stephen's in Vienna, was performed. Mr. Vincenz Hospodsky, whose excellent violin playing is praised by the Salzburg and Graz newspapers, kindly took part. We rejoiced all the more that he did so, as he had already proven his exquisite artistry through several performances in an earlier concert. Upon widespread request, this artist gave a second concert, which met with full acclaim. Our fine gentlemen, who readily assisted the aforementioned artist, afforded us a true artistic pleasure on this occasion, magnificently executing the new overture in C major by K. M. v. Weber and the concluding overture from Mozart's Don Juan. — Tomorrow, His Prince-Episcopal Grace intends to return to his episcopal see.
