Tyrol.

Botzen, 20 March. On the 12th of this month, the i. r. Gubernial Councillor and District Captain Leopold Ritter v. Hauer passed away here at the age of 45 as a result of a nervous stroke. Endowed with excellent intellectual gifts, the deceased combined a never-tiring zeal for service with the strictest integrity and the most blameless conduct of life. The state, whose welfare was the noble aim of his praiseworthy and ever active endeavors, loses in him a faithful and valuable servant. However, his loss is particularly painful for his relatives and friends, to whom he was attached with unchanging devotion.
