Transit of Prince-Bishop Franz Xaver through Bozen
Prince-Bishop Franz Xaver made a stop in Bozen on his journey to Trent. He was welcomed by the clergy and city magistrate, celebrated a mass at the provostry parish church, and imparted the apostolic blessing to the faithful.

Botzen, 15 Oct. Yesterday we were granted the long-awaited good fortune of honoring our most reverend Prince-Bishop Franz Xaver on his journey through to Trent. At 5 o'clock in the evening His Prince-Episcopal Grace arrived here to the ringing of bells and was received at the entrance of the provostry, where His Grace took lodging, by the entire local secular and regular clergy, the nearest reverend deans and parish priests, and the city magistrate. The words of love, dignity, and unction with which the most gracious chief pastor of our diocese encouraged those present to fulfill their heavy duties of pastoral care, which he promised to share with them, will be unforgettable to them. At night, the buildings closest to the provostry were illuminated out of heartfelt joy over this happy event. Today His Episcopal Grace read a low mass in the provostry parish church and then imparted the apostolic blessing to the large gathering of the faithful. At 10 o'clock in the morning His Grace continued his journey to his episcopal see.
