July 1821

Overview

In July 1821, historical and linguistic treatises examined the German-speaking linguistic enclaves in southern Tyrol and northern Italy. The studies analyzed the dialects and settlement history of communities such as Deutschnofen, Truden, and the Sette Comuni. In view of the rapid decline in the use of the German language, the authors called for urgent on-site scientific documentation.
