Botzen, 8 Dec. The k. k. District Office on the Etsch feels obliged to bring to public notice another most noble act by a shepherd of souls called to a better world, for the benefit of poor and suffering humanity. Parish priest and dean Joh. Baptist Peuger, who passed away in Schlanders this year, appointed the Holy Spirit Hospital in Schlanders as universal heir in his last will of 28 April of the preceding year, on the condition that, for the eternal salvation of his soul, an annual memorial service with two High Masses and two Low Masses, along with the customary prayers and grave visits, be held in the parish church of Schlanders. Through this noble deed, this hospital, which only recently was brought out of an extremely mediocre and cramped condition in terms of premises and interior fittings into a spacious and orderly one, received an endowment increase amounting to 3,120 fl. 45 kr. C.W. May the memory of the late reverend noble founder, who worthily joins the ranks of preceding reverend founders of hospitals and almshouses of Deutschnofen, Mölten, Lana, and Tirol in the district's annals of charity, always be commemorated with gratitude and religious devotion to their lot by every unfortunate soul who finds refuge and relief from physical suffering in that place.
