Ascent of the Ortler Peak by Professor Thurwieser
Report on the successful ascent of the Ortler peak by Professor Peter Karl Thurwieser on 13 August 1834. He was guided by Joseph Pichler, the peak's first conqueror, who was over 70 years old at the time.

According to a report received by this editorial office, on 13 August of this year at 12:30, the highest mountain in Tyrol, the Ortler-Spitze, situated in the district court of Glurns, was successfully climbed from the Trafoi side by Professor Peter Karl Thurwieser of Salzburg, known for several mountain ascents. Particularly fine weather favored this rare undertaking, in which the hunter Joseph Pichler, the first to climb this peak, served as guide at the age of over 70. We await the kindness of the aforementioned courageous climber to communicate the collected observations shortly, so that they may be brought to the attention of our readers.
