Vacancy of the Schmidhofer Benefice in Meran

Through the death of the Reverend Mr Benedikt Stadler, parish choir singer, the Mr Schmidhofer benefice in the town of Meran has become vacant.

The following duties are attached to it:

1. To read holy Mass daily at 10 o'clock in the parish church, and

2. To apply weekly four local masses for the deceased founder.

In return, there is an annual revenue of 178 fl. 16 kr. Viennese Currency in cash, and the free use of the benefice house, in which the respective benefice holder finds comfortable accommodation, and can collect a rent of 50 fl. from a portion of it.

Since the bestowal of this benefice is furthermore conditional upon the holder being skilled in music in order to serve in the parish church choir, the income of the benefice is increased by the choir salary of 100 fl. annually, and, if a candidate proves qualifications in choral chant—in which case he would be preferred over all others—by casual earnings of 70 fl.

Just as it is generally desired to confer the benefice upon a candidate who would be willing to give private music lessons, the assurance can also be given that a foundation of 30 fl. Viennese Currency exists, which may likewise be drawn by the benefice holder if he instructs two boys in music.

For the non-obligatory masses, stipends may be reliably counted upon.

Whoever wishes to obtain this benefice in the above-calculated sum of 428 fl. 16 kr. Viennese Currency along with free lodgings must submit the application together with the requisite certificates of qualification to the undersigned office by the end of October of the current year.
