1821 at a glance

The year 1821 in Meran was shaped by reports on local agriculture, including viticulture and successful experimental cultivation of Chinese mountain rice. Infrastructure work and hydraulic engineering measures along the rivers were central, accompanied by natural events such as the May flood that disrupted transport routes. The year was rounded out by official awards for services to national defense and the preservation of traditional customs.
