Bozen, Dec. 3. Nov. 30 was a particularly festive day for Bozen. The Reverend Mr. Gottfried von Egloff zu Stadhof und Melans, Doctor of Sacred Theology, Dean of the local collegiate church, and for the third time episcopal administrator of the local provostry and town parish, celebrated his 50th anniversary of priesthood at the age of 73. A very fitting sermon prepared the minds for the high mass celebrated by him, accompanied by full-voiced music, and this solemnity was heightened by the presence of the local authorities, many dignitaries, and a numerous crowd of people, with the most important moments of the high mass being announced to the entire surrounding area by the firing of mortars on the Virgl mountain. It was a touching and awe-inspiring sight to see the 73-year-old elder perform the divine service with great dignity and still in flourishing health. A festive meal, attended by the heads of the authorities, many k. k. officials, and several respected citizens of the city, concluded this celebration, during which, amid renewed mortar shots, toasts were offered to the health of the cheerful and worthy pastor and the wish was expressed that he might live to see his 75th anniversary of priesthood just as happily.
