Death of Provost Anton v. Jäger in Bozen

Bozen, 27 August: Early this morning, after receiving the holy sacraments, the Most Reverend Mr. Anton v. Jäger, provost of the local infulated parish church, member of the Tyrolean Estates, and president of the local Charity Commission, passed away here at the age of approximately 80 years. This noble old man, whose existence was dedicated to the welfare of the poor and helpless, and whose enviable steadfastness during the tribulations suffered as the former parish priest of Lienz is universally known, now leaves the local inhabitants in deep mourning and great sorrow over the loss that his departure to better realms caused to all right-thinking people. — Last week, in the middle of the ringing of the great bell in the parish church, the clapper snapped and shattered the foot of a mason.
